POSITION: Post-doctoral Associate in Ground Water Modeling
Florida International University and the United States Geological Survey are
seeking a recent PhD graduate to work with a team of ground water modelers
in advanced model-based well field protection area mapping. The large urban
population of Miami-Dade County relies on the Biscayne aquifer as its
sole-source water supply. This presents unique opportunities for
large-scale, high resolution modeling that incorporates processes not
routinely considered in well field models including non-Darcian flow in a
prolific karst aquifer, stochastic parameter inputs, and uncertainty
analysis. Models will be calibrated and optimized using advanced
optimization tools in a parallel computing environment.
Recent PhD in groundwater modeling required. Ability to manage large data
sets and simulations required. Research-level experience in model
calibration desirable. Position available approximately October 1, 2008.
Send CV and statement of modeling experience and interest to Dr. Michael
Sukop at sukopm@fiu.edu.
