Two coupling modules for integrated groundwater-surface water modeling have been developed. IfmMIKE11 links the commercial 1D hydrodynamic simulation software MIKE11 (by DHI) to the groundwater modeling program FEFLOW, while IfmHYDRO_AS couples FEFLOW with the 2D hydrodynamic model HYDRO_AS-2D (by M. Nujic). Both test cases and first practical applications show the suitability of the coupled simulation system for modeling a broad variety of surface water-groundwater interaction processes.
