HISTORY AND MISSION

The International Ground Water Modeling Center (IGWMC) was established in 1978 at the Holcomb Research Institute of Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. In 1991, the IGWMC was relocated and became part of the Colorado School of Mines (CSM), Golden, Colorado. It is currently operated as a research center in CSM's Department of Geology and Geological Engineering.

The mission of the International Ground Water Modeling Center is to stimulate the correct and efficient use of simulation models and related computer-based support technology in the management and protection of ground-water resources; train ground-water professionals by involving them in this endeavor; and facilitate communication and interaction of ground-water professionals on modeling issues. To this end, IGWMC conducts activities related to ground-water modeling methodologies, software, and management including:
